eSAIL offers several live workshops to support your online teaching. Live workshops provide an opportunity for hands-on practice with guidance from our eSAIL staff.

January 2026 – Digital Accessibility Toolkit

Workshop Leaders and Facilitators: Christine Roach

Description: This workshop provides a practical introduction to addressing common digital accessibility issues in instructional materials. It is designed for faculty and staff who create, revise, or manage digital content and need clear, actionable guidance on meeting accessibility requirements.

The workshop will cover multiple categories of tools and techniques used to remediate frequent accessibility concerns, including document remediation, presentation materials, learning management system content, and course organization practices. Attention will also be given to understanding automated accessibility feedback and using it effectively to improve compliance over time.

By the end of the session, participants will have a clearer understanding of how to approach accessibility remediation, greater confidence in interpreting accessibility checker results, and practical strategies for maintaining accessible digital content as materials evolve.


January 2026 – Making Handwritten Lecture Notes Accessible using MathPix and Word

Description: This hands-on workshop will guide participants on how to make handwritten lecture notes accessible using MathPix and Microsoft Word. The workshop will cover three main steps: creating a free MathPix trial account, using MathPix to convert handwritten notes to text, editing in Word for accuracy and accessibility. Attendees should bring a PDF of handwritten notes.


January/February 2026 – eSAIL Open Studio: Course Design & Accessibility Lab

Workshop Leaders and Facilitators: Christine Roach & Lydia Harrison
Length: 1 hour

Description: Shift from theory to practice in this “no-agenda” productivity session. This workshop is designed for faculty who have started building their courses and want dedicated time to refine them with experts on standby. Whether you are troubleshooting a tricky Canvas module, updating your syllabus for accessibility compliance, or looking for a second pair of eyes on your course navigation, this is your time to get it done.

There will be no formal presentation. Instead, we provide the space, the expertise, and the troubleshooting support to help you cross items off your “to-do” list.


April 2026 – Preparing for the End of the Semester

Description: This session is for faculty using Canvas who want to learn more about setting up Gradebook and preparing for end-of-semester calculations. Topics addressed include setting up grading schemes, weighted grades, grade posting policy, assignment groups, creating extra columns, and posting grades to Howdy.
