LaTeX Accessibility Symposium

Registration is Required – Seating is Limited!

Join eSAIL for an intensive, hands-on symposium focused on making LaTeX documents fully accessible to every user.

This symposium is open to any Texas A&M University faculty or staff member who is working to find, share, or create solutions to make LaTeX-based documents more digitally accessible. The symposium will be a hands-on and participatory experience with presentations and collaborative discussions. Participants are encouraged to bring their laptops (with power cords) to practice and test solutions. Lunch will be provided.

Detailed Symposium Agenda

This is an interactive working session. Please come prepared to share your current projects and accessibility challenges.

 
Time Topic Activities
11:00 Welcome & Intro The Goal(s) and the Challenge; Demo sample documents using Ally and NVDA.
11:15 Open Floor for Sharing Introductions, current Goals & Challenges, ongoing Projects.
11:30 Getting All the Ducks in a Row A technical overview of the LaTeX – PDF – NVDA workflow.
12:00 Lunch Provided by eSAIL Networking Break
12:30 Hands-on Work Session Install NVDA, share and test solutions, and implement best practices. (Please bring a laptop if possible.)
1:30 Report Out Findings, questions, and recommendations from the work session.
1:45 Next Steps? Planning future efforts and collaborations.
2:00 Adjourn
